Haider Ackermann SS12 Review

Haider Ackermann SS12

Colombian designer Haider Ackermann produced a truly outstanding collection for Spring/Summer 2012. Menswear has been a huge trend this season and it was incorporated into this collection perfectly, adding a knew take to the trend. Brightly coloured silks gave a feminine appeal to the clothing and the stunning drapes added an element of sex appeal. Metallics were used throughout the collection, in the form of low slung trousers, jackets and the most exquisite gowns. Colours and materials were clashed and suits were mismatched.  Sheer fabrics pushed the boundaries, revealing the full upper body of the models, questioning the wearability of the garments.

Models wore backless oxford slippers – again fitting in with the menswear theme – and casually walked with their hands in their pockets.

Ackermann said he wanted to create the image of a woman wearing her “lovers” clothes. The idea of mystery and passion seemed hugely relevant within the collection. It was as if each look told a story and as the audience, we wanted to know every detail. This is exactly what I love to find in a collection, something that captures my full attention throughout.
